The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo is a twin campus of the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon, which operates under a charter granted by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). AUB's degree programs are registered by the NYSED and recognized in the United States.
The American University of Beirut (AUB) is an accredited institution by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) (www.msche.org), 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801, 267-284-5011. The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education (CHEA). MSCHE accreditation is an expression of confidence in the institution's mission, goals, resources, and performance based upon periodic internal and external assessment. AUB was first accredited in June 2004. This accreditation was reaffirmed in 2009, 2014, and 2019.
The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo is approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) as a branch campus of the American University of Beirut. AUB operates under a charter granted by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) which registers the university's degree programs. All departments and programs at AUB Mediterraneo are accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Higher Education (CYQAA). This accreditation is valid until the end of spring semester 2028. The full and updated Statement of Accreditation Status is maintained on the
MSCHE website. The institution's reaccreditation review is scheduled for the 2027-2028 academic year.
The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). It was the first business school in Lebanon to earn this accreditation in 2009. The accreditation was reaffirmed in 2014 and 2019. The programs offered at AUB Mediterraneo are AACSB International-accredited programs. Also the Faculty of Business is part of international networks such as the Business Graduates Association (BGA) and Global Business School Network (GBSN).
