Dr. Elena Polydorou studied economics and business administration at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki earning her BS in economics and business administration degree in 2011. She continued her studies by enrolling in a postgraduate program in accounting organizations and institutions and later acquiring a postgraduate MBA degree (2015) at the London School of Economics. She earned a PhD (2023) from the University of Peloponnese focusing her research on the 2013 banking crisis in Cyprus and the role of external auditors and corporate governance in the crisis. She has taught economics and accounting modules at two universities in Cyprus. She is currently teaching courses in elementary statistics for the social sciences at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo).​
