Abdulsalam Haykal

​A trustee since 2011, an alumni-elected trustee from 2008-10, and an AUB graduate (BA ‘00), Abdulsalam Haykal is the founder and executive chairman of Majarra, the region’s leading platform of premium digital knowledge and information in Arabic. He is a board member of the enterprise software firm Transtek Systems and chairman of Lableb, a company focused on Arabic-natural language processing (NLP) and search technology. Based in the United Arab Emirates since 2012, he continues a business legacy that started in Syria in 1939. ​​​​​​​​​

​Haykal serves on the UAE’s Arabic Language Council and the Advisory Board of the New York Abu Dhabi Center on AI and Humanities. The World Economic Forum recognized Haykal as a Young Global Leader, and he received the Arab Thought Foundation’s Innovation Award and the medal of the AUB Alumni Association (AAA) - Lebanon. He has an MA from SOAS, University of London ​​​​​​​​​​
