Jafar J. Jafar, MD
A trustee since 2009, Jafar is a retired professor of neurosurgery and neurosurgeon-in-chief at New York University Langone Medical Center. He is the director of NYU’s Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery, which he founded. Jafar was the Interim chairman of the department of Neurosurgery at NYU Medical Center from 2008 to 2010. He is also responsible for founding the Center for Cerebrovascular Disease at NYU. He is past associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he established the stroke research laboratory and a cerebral blood flow laboratory. He is a graduate of Pahlavi University, Iran (BS ‘70, MD ‘76).
