AUB Mediterraneo Hosts Career Development Day to Equip Students with Skills for a Changing Job Market
Pafos, Cyprus – December 1, 2025: The American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) ) held a dynamic Career Development Day on Friday, November 28, bringing students face-to-face with experts, practitioners, and alumni to help them navigate today’s rapidly evolving employment landscape. The full-day seminar combined market insights, skills-building workshops, and inspiring alumni journeys, offering students a comprehensive and practical foundation for their future careers.
The event opened with an overview of current recruitment trends and employer expectations. Guest speakers Dr. Xenia Loizidou, Mr. Tassos Yiasemides, and Dr. Charalambos Costeris shared an evidence-based analysis of the contemporary job market, highlighting emerging opportunities in Cyprus and beyond. They emphasized the increasing importance of adaptability, digital literacy, and strong human skills; competencies that employers across industries now prioritize.
Building on this knowledge, students then participated in hands-on workshops designed to enhance their professional readiness. Ms. Marta Bas led interactive activities on crafting standout elevator pitches, refining interview techniques, and developing effective job-search strategies. In a complementary session, Ms. Nadine Nakad guided students through the essentials of strengthening their LinkedIn profiles, building purposeful networks, and preparing polished CVs and cover letters that clearly communicate their strengths and aspirations. Additionally, in collaboration with the AUB Mediterraneo Branding Club, Ms. Louise Mason led a workshop on personal branding portfolios, offering students practical guidance on presenting themselves with clarity, confidence, and creativity in professional settings.
The seminar concluded with an engaging alumni panel featuring Ms. Nadine Nakad, Ms. Eliza Markidou, Ms. Adnriana Achilleos, Mr. Marios Tsiakkis, and Mr. Mohamad Zaarour. Panelists shared honest reflections on their career journeys, from their early roles to their current accomplishments, and spoke about resilience, lifelong learning, and the enduring impact of their AUB education. Their experiences offered students real-world perspective and encouragement as they prepare for their own professional paths.
