How to apply for a permit of stay

To finalize your enrollment at AUB Mediterraneo, if you hold non-EU citizenship, you are required to:

  • Apply for and obtain a student visa (also known as a ‘Blue Slip’) before coming to Cyprus.
  • Apply for a permit of stay for study purposes once in Cyprus.
How to apply for a permit of stay

How to apply for a permit of stay

Within 7 working days from your arrival in Cyprus holding a valid student visa, you must apply for a permit of stay for study purposes (‘Yellow Slip’).

The application for the permit of stay must be submitted at the Migration Department through a representative of the university. If your documents are in order, the Migration Department will issue you a receipt, an application reception document, and an alien registration certificate (also known as a ‘yellow slip’). They will also collect your biometric data.

The Civil Registry and Migration Department will normally issue a temporary residence permit (also known as a “plastic card”) within 3–5 months. Unfortunately, we do not have full authority over the timelines or procedures involved in the issuance of these cards. The process is subject to the policies and protocols established by the Migration authorities.

Further guidance about this procedure will be provided during the Welcome Days at the beginning of the term.
