AUB Mediterraneo Receives the International Investment Award
Pafos, July 8, 2024: The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) was awarded an International Investment Award at the 12th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards organized by Invest Cyprus under the auspices of H.E. President Nikos Christodoulides.
Dr. Wassim El Hajj, rector of AUB Mediterraneo, received the award on behalf of the university during a ceremony held on July 3, 2024, in Nicosia, in the presence of H.E. President Nikos Christodoulides, ministers, political leaders, MPs, ambassadors, and other dignitaries.
In his speech, Rector El Hajj spoke about the 158-year history of the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon, and its worldwide ranking and recognition. He also expressed his gratitude for the recognition of AUB Mediterraneo, the twin campus of AUB in Pafos: “Thank you Invest Cyprus for this honorable award that reflects our commitment to our mission to expand our impact and contribute to the local economy through innovative research, entrepreneurship, and social impact.”
El Hajj highlighted the strong support that AUB Mediterraneo has received from government agencies and communities in Cyprus. He also stressed that AUB Mediterraneo will continue along the same path of academic excellence and international acclaim that have always characterized AUB and the role that it will play in Cyprus: “We want to support the vision of Cyprus and help it achieve its goals for the development of innovative research and entrepreneurship.”
AUB Mediterraneo was one of only seven companies that were recognized at this event for their contributions to the promotion of innovation, green transition, and digital transformation in Cyprus.
