Accreditation
The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) is a twin campus of the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon. Degrees awarded by AUB Mediterraneo are officially registered with the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth in Cyprus and are accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Higher Education (CYQAA). This accreditation is valid until the end of the spring semester of 2028.
AUB Mediterraneo operates under the charter granted to AUB by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). AUB Mediterraneo’s degree programs are registered with NYSED and recognized in the United States. Engineering programs are currently in the final stages of review by NYSED.
AUB Mediterraneo is approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) as a branch campus of the American University of Beirut. AUB is an accredited institution by MSCHE, 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801, 267-284-5011. MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
MSCHE accreditation is an expression of confidence in an institution’s mission, goals, resources, and performance based on periodic internal and external assessment. AUB was first accredited in June 2004, and its accreditation was reaffirmed in 2009, 2014, and 2019. AUB and AUB Mediterraneo are currently conducting a comprehensive MSCHE self-study in preparation for the 2027–2028 reaccreditation review.

The Faculty of Business at AUB Mediterraneo holds both AACSB and EQUIS accreditation, placing it among a select group of business schools worldwide recognized for excellence in business education. As part of the American University of Beirut’s shared accreditation framework, and building on the legacy of the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, the Faculty delivers programs that meet internationally recognized standards of academic quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Faculty is also a member of leading international networks, including the Business Graduates Association (BGA) and the Global Business School Network (GBSN).
