Institute for the Liberal Arts
The Institute for the Liberal Arts, part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at AUB Mediterraneo, advances the university’s commitment to the philosophy, standards, and practices of American liberal arts education.
As the academic and administrative home of the General Education Program and the BA in Global Liberal Arts, the institute plays a foundational role in the academic, cultural, and civic life of the university. It promotes excellence in teaching, interdisciplinary learning, and curricular innovation while supporting a student-centered educational experience across all fields of study. In all its activities, it aims to instill humane values and an ethic of care that extends from the individual and the campus community to the city of Pafos, the Mediterranean region, and the wider world.
The liberal arts curriculum at AUB Mediterraneo supports each student’s intellectual and personal growth by encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and effective communication. It prepares students to continue learning throughout their lives and to become engaged citizens and leaders in their communities. These goals extend across the student experience through small class sizes, student-centered pedagogies, active campus life, and opportunities to participate in university governance.
