Biography
Hadi Abou Chakra completed his PhD in process engineering (1998) from the University of Surrey in the UK. He was formerly chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Beirut Arab University (2007-24), a part-time lecturer at the American University of Beirut (2008-17), director of planning and development at MECAT (2004-07), and senior research fellow at the University of Surrey (1997-2004). His areas of expertise include quality control in manufacturing processes, project management, ergonomics, and production and operation management. He has led numerous research initiatives in partnership with diverse industries in Lebanon and the UK and has published more than 50 research papers in esteemed journals, conferences, and books. Abou Chakra received the AUB Outstanding Award for his research in applied industrial engineering and his contributions to academic service in Lebanon (in 2016).
