Dr Salah Sadek

Dr. Salah Sadek is the founding dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) and a professor of civil engineering and a professor of civil engineering and former associate dean (2018-XX) at the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Among his current responsibilities at AUB are chair of the MSFEA Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Accreditation Committee and chair of the Academic and Curriculum Committee. Sadek was formerly chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at AUB (2008-11). He received the AUB Teaching Excellence Award (in 2005).. He received the AUB Teaching Excellence Award (in 2005).

His research interests focus on geotechnical engineering, ground improvement, geotechnical earthquake engineering, alternative/advanced foundation systems, and geo-environmental engineering.

Sadek earned his BE in civil engineering from AUB (1984), his MS from Colorado State University (1985), and his PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of California-Berkeley (1993).​​​
